Michelle Wood, MSN, RN


MWoodSpecial Interest and Research: Ms. Wood has a range of professional Nursing background that includes Intensive Care Nursing, Obstetrics and Mother Baby Nursing and Forensic Nursing. Ms. Wood has sat on the Southern New Mexico Wellness Alliance Board that oversees the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner and Domestic Violence Programs for both Otero and Lincoln County and currently serves as an active member of the Sexual Assault Response Team as well as participates as a member of the Otero County Multiple Disciplinary Team. Ms. Wood currently sits on a Code Blue Committee for Gerald Champion RMC in Alamogordo, NM as is Part of the education team in MOCK code, Rapid Response and also teaches for the Neonatal Resuscitation Program. Ms. Wood also volunteers as Child Advocate for the CASA Program that works closely with children in the foster care system.

Professional Experience: Ms. Wood has more than 12 years of combined experience in nursing. She has been involved in education for more than 2 years as a Clinical Instructor and just under a year as an Assistant Professor for NMSU’s School of Nursing. Ms. Wood obtained her Master’s Degree in Nursing Practice with Emphasis on Nursing Education from American Sentinel University out of Colorado.

Ms. Wood is a Professional Member of AWHONN-Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses as well as a Member of the IAFN – International Association of Forensic Nurses.
