Kelli Giron
DNP, RN, PMHNP-BC
Dr. Giron is a proud alumna of NMSU and excited to be a part of the faculty and programs that
helped her to launch her nursing career. She has over a decade of diverse experience in psychiatric
nursing, including inpatient care, crisis intervention, and community mental health. Her leadership
role within an Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) program involved guiding an interdisciplinary
team comprised of case managers, therapists, and nurses, as well as providing clinical care to
individuals with severe mental illness. She first recognized her passion for teaching while
precepting graduate students from a variety of programs and providing in-sevice trainings on mental
health topics to enhance knowledge and practical skills. Dr. Giron was recognized with a Commitment
to Serve Devotion Award for her service in the ACT program. In addition to her clinical expertise,
Dr. Giron is passionate about education and mentorship. Her teaching philosophy emphasizes bridging
theory and practice, fostering a supportive learning environment, and preparing students for the
complexities of modern healthcare. She emphasizes the integration of evidence-based practices
with compassionate patient care.
