As the Director of the NMSU School of Nursing, it is my pleasure to welcome you to our community, where we blend academic excellence with a deep commitment to serving our diverse and vibrant borderlands region. Our mission is to prepare exceptional nurses who will lead, innovate, and transform healthcare to meet the needs of our communities.

At NMSU, we offer a range of undergraduate and graduate nursing programs designed to equip our graduates with the knowledge, skills, and compassion necessary to thrive in a dynamic healthcare environment. Our Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program provides a strong foundation in nursing theory and clinical practice, while our Master of Science in Nursing (MSN), Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) and post graduate APRN certificate programs offer advanced training for those seeking to specialize and lead in their fields. NMSU has offered nurse administrator and nurse practitioner education for well over a decade, while our nurse anesthesiology program was launched in August 2023.

A career in nursing is more than a profession; it is a calling that empowers you to make a profound impact on the lives of individuals and communities. Nursing is a pathway to socio-economic mobility, offering stable and rewarding careers with opportunities for growth and advancement. Our graduates are equipped to excel in various healthcare settings, from hospitals and clinics to community health organizations and policy-making institutions.

At the NMSU School of Nursing, we are deeply committed to addressing health disparities and promoting health equity. Our location in the borderlands, with its rich cultural tapestry and unique health challenges, provides a distinctive context for our work. We strive to produce culturally competent nurses who are adept at working in diverse environments and who understand the importance of delivering care that is respectful of and responsive to the cultural and linguistic needs of our patients.

Our faculty, staff, and students are dedicated to improving health outcomes and advancing the well-being of all populations, particularly those who are medically underserved in the borderlands and rural counties of New Mexico. Through community engagement, research, and innovative practice, we aim to reduce health disparities and ensure that everyone has access to high-quality healthcare.

We invite you to explore our programs and discover how the NMSU School of Nursing can help you achieve your professional and personal goals. Our clinical and other community partners provide the training sites and mentoring that are essential components of our nursing programs. Our generous scholarship donors provide financial support so that our students can focus on their education and training. Together, we can make a difference in the health and lives of those we serve.
