Professor Ventura graduated from St. John Fisher College, Wegman’s School of Nursing in Rochester, New York with her BSN and a minor in Spanish for Healthcare Professions. After graduating she relocated to Montana to be closer to family and began her career in a small rural hospital on a floor that cared for a variety of patients including Med/Surg, Pediatrics, and Behavioral Health. After her first year of work, Professor Ventura fulfilled her passion of working with the most critical patients in the Intensive Care Unit before 5 years later transitioning into Perioperative services. Professor Ventura then continued her education at the University of Texas at El Paso and earned her MSN in Nursing Management and Administration, additionally earning a Post Master’s certificate in Nursing Education. Professor Ventura joined the NMSU family part time in Fall 2019 and then transitioned into a full-time role in January 2020. Professor Ventura’s passions are working with nursing students with promoting autonomy and centering all aspects of learning around safe patient care as well as caring for critically ill patients.
