Dr. Schumacher’s nursing experience comprises 34 years of varied types of nursing including: clinic nursing, long-term care, pre-operative nursing, acute-care case management, and quality management. Most of her clinical nursing was spent as a Hospice Case Manager. Health of communities is an interest she learned from years spent working as nurse in the community. She also has a particular interest in gerontology. Ultimately her main career focus has been making personal connections with patients in the community and with students. She strives to improve the teaching and learning process.
